Our Logo

Our logo has a Puerto Rico Screech Owl (Megascops nudipes) observing the night sky. The Puerto Rico Screech Owl ("múcaro") is a small owl with a brown upperside, light brown to white underside, white and brown lines and white eyebrows The asterism behind the owl is the Big Dipper. This pattern of stars belongs to the constellation of Ursa Major. We selected this pattern of stars because the object M97 ("Owl Nebula") is found in this constellation. The logo represents our interest in astrophysics and the awareness of our surroundings. For the logo we used a photograph of an owl taken by Alberto López Torres.
